Instructions for Use

1. When using the lifting eye, the maximum permissible angle is 120°, as shown in Figure 1 below.

2. Do not use bolts or metal rods as substitutes for the pin.

3. The body of the shackle must not be subjected to lateral bending moments; that is, the load must be applied within the plane of the shackle body. See Figure 3.

4. Please use correctly; overloading is strictly prohibited.

5. When the shackle is used in conjunction with wire rope slings as a lashing device, the lashing method should be as shown in Figure 2.

Scrapping Criteria

1. Shackles and pins shall be scrapped if they show signs of corrosion or wear exceeding 10% of their nominal dimensions.

2. Shackles shall be scrapped if any part shows visible cracks or fissures, or if non-destructive testing reveals defects.

3. Shackles shall be scrapped if they show obvious deformation or if the pin cannot be rotated.
