When using the lifting eye, the maximum permissible angle is 120\u00b0, as shown in Figure 1 below.<\/p>\n<p>2. Do not use bolts or metal rods as substitutes for the pin.<\/p>\n<p>3. The body of the shackle must not be subjected to lateral bending moments; that is, the load must be applied within the plane of the shackle body. See Figure 3.<\/p>\n<p>4. Please use correctly; overloading is strictly prohibited.<\/p>\n<p>5. When the shackle is used in conjunction with wire rope slings as a lashing device, the lashing method should be as shown in Figure 2.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jienmarine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/1-2405311FAQ92.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"768\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-789\" data-no-translation=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Scrapping Criteria<\/h2>\n<p>1. Shackles and pins shall be scrapped if they show signs of corrosion or wear exceeding 10% of their nominal dimensions.<\/p>\n<p>2. Shackles shall be scrapped if any part shows visible cracks or fissures, or if non-destructive testing reveals defects.<\/p>\n<p>3.
